Andrea worked as an anti-slavery advocate in the Austral-Asia region since 2009, and was the legal human rights advisor to both federal and NSW Governments on their Modern Slavery Act 2018. Andrea was invited to be a part of the Hilary Clinton's global women leaders in anti-slavery advocacy leadership program in 2015. Andrea has provided more than 35 parliamentary submissions including providing legal recommendations to ensure legislation is anti-slave compliant and in consideration of the needs of women and child survivors of slavery, exploitation and human trafficking, and in line with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals 2015. Andrea has spoken on human trafficking, slavery, exploitation and other human rights matters at academic, justice and human rights legal conferences nationally and internationally since 2009, and has published papers on the same.
